SOLO SHOW

Victor Oyedele

African Art

Art becomes a language of memory, culture and lived experience when materials are allowed to tell their own stories. Moving freely between techniques and mixed media, Victor Oyedele draws inspiration from Nigerian cultural traditions, his personal experiences, imagination and the environment that surrounds him.

Trained in Fine Art at Osun State College of Technology, he has developed a versatile practice shaped by experimentation rather than by the boundaries of a single medium or style. His work has been presented in numerous national and international exhibitions and publications across Africa, Asia and Europe, including projects in Nigeria, India, Pakistan, South Korea and Türkiye.

At the heart of his practice lies a desire to transform observation and experience into visual narratives — works that carry traces of identity, place and the world from which they emerge.

Artist Statement

"In my journey as an artist, my work serves as a conduit between my inner world and external reality — a visual diary capturing the essence of my thoughts, emotions, and observations. Each piece unfolds as a narrative, woven from imagination, personal experience, and a profound connection to the environment around me.

My practice is not confined to a single medium or style. Instead, it thrives on experimentation and the tactile richness of different materials, particularly mixed media. I seek to create more than visually compelling works: I create portals that invite the viewer into a dialogue, encouraging reflection, evoking emotion, and challenging perception.

My work explores the complexities of life and the human condition while celebrating the resilience of the human spirit. I draw inspiration from the intricate beauty of nature, the dynamic tapestry of cultures, and the countless stories carried within each individual. These influences emerge through recurring themes of growth, resilience, and interconnectedness.

Through my art, I seek to illuminate what is often overlooked, give voice to the silent whispers of the soul, and create a space where silence can speak louder than words.

Ultimately, I hope my work fosters a sense of wonder, inspires introspection, and contributes to a more empathetic and understanding world. Each artwork is an invitation to pause, look closer, and discover the hidden layers beneath the surface — a reflection of my journey and a mosaic of moments and memories."
